Grid Growth Ventures
Regional grid operator PJM Interconnection has selected a major electric transmission project to be jointly developed by Grid Growth Ventures, LLC, a joint venture between Transource Energy and FirstEnergy Transmission. This collaboration will leverage the companies’ collective expertise and resources to deliver comprehensive and cost-effective solutions that address the region's growing power needs.
- New Transmission Infrastructure: The project includes approximately 330 miles of new extra high voltage transmission lines in Ohio and Indiana, including nearly 300 miles of 765kV lines. Substation upgrades at numerous extra high voltage substations will also be completed to enable the interconnection of the new lines.
- Project Benefits: Improves grid reliability and resilience, enhances power transfer capability, and supports load growth and future generation interconnections across the western footprint of PJM.
- Projected Timeline: The project will be placed into service in 2030 and 2031.
