Rice - Ringgold Project

Transource is developing the Rice-Ringgold Project, a 29-mile double circuit 230 kV transmission line connecting the new 500/230kV Rice substation in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to the Ringgold substation in Smithsburg, Maryland. This project, awarded by the PJM Interconnection, LLC (PJM), relieves congestion on the grid to facilitate economic benefits in excess of three times its cost. Transource is working closely with landowners, local officials, and key stakeholders to ensure their critical input is considered.

• New Transmission Infrastructure: Transource is constructing a 29-mile greenfield double-circuit 230 kV transmission line, paralleling existing infrastructure for about 42% of its length, along with a new 500/230 kV substation in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
• Project Benefits: Recent PJM assessments indicate the project is expected to deliver benefits exceeding its construction cost by more than 350%.
• Projected Timeline: The project is expected to be in service in 2028.
