Peggy Simmons

Director, Transmission Asset Strategy & Policy

Peggy Simmons has over 15 years of professional experience with AEP, working in various commercial and regulatory roles and is currently the director, Transmission Asset Strategy & Policy. In her current role, Simmons provides transmission strategy and policy positions at both the state and federal levels and oversees reporting needs for AEP transmission-only companies in the east.

Previously, Simmons was manager of Regulatory Commodity Sourcing for AEP Ohio and managed all aspects of the electric distribution utility's obligations to procure power to meet its standard service obligations (SSO) to customers.

In other capacities, Simmons served as manager of Renewable Energy having oversight for wind farm assets, managed REC and other renewable procurement obligations, as well as managed wholesale auction participation. Additionally, she has testified before state commissions in AEP's 11-state jurisdiction.

Simmons holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Administration from Central Michigan University.

Simmons is a member of AEP's Enterprise Sustainability Council and recently co-chaired AEP's $1.5M United Way Campaign.

In the Columbus, Ohio community, Simmons currently serves on the Board of Directors of IMPACT Community Action Agency, fellow of the African American Leadership Academy (AALA), previously served on the Board of Directors of the Columbus Early Learning Centers (CELC), past member of the United Way of Central Ohio (UWCO) Resource Development Committee and has served as the Key Club co-chair for the UWCO campaign.
